Bryan Ryan, an artist, hopes to one day draw the perfect comic. His kind heart partially masks the fact that he seems to have his foot perpetually lodged in his mouth.
Bryan is played by Anthony Jade Natarelli. When approached for his acting bio, Anthony yelled, “Wait, this is a show? I thought we were all just hanging out. Why did you really stab me, then?”
Thomas is a straight shooting and brutally honest man with unnatural strength and speed. He’d rather not draw attention to himself or Odds, but he does own the bar.
Thomas is played by Devin Alexander, who is gentleedwardsrecords.bandcamp.com.
Diana is a quick witted and powerful empath who always looks for the best in people and in life, especially her older brother Thomas.. No matter how dark the clouds are, she always finds a silver lining.
Diana is played by Jessica Denney. You can see her on the QC stage, in film, or at your local supermarket, probably in the wine section. Her real life superpower is making a wide array of faces.
Sin is a hedonistic small business owner. His ability to force emotional states on others means his friends often keep him at arm’s reach, leaving him to his own devices. Though he gets his kicks at the expense of others, deep down he cares about the happiness and safety of the people he cares about.
Sin is played by Joshua Kahn, creator of Against the Odds. When not working on Odds, he hosts burlesque shows as “The Ghost of Vaudeville.”
Phaser Phil is a quiet, if not silent, regular patron of Odds. He’s a great pool player and a dynamite listener who has the unique and seemingly useless ability to teleport short distances.
Phil is played by Paul-Thomas Ferguson who wears several hats for Against the Odds, including those of lead writer, co-producer, singer-songwriter, actor, director (pending), and ice boy. In his life among the Norms, he is also an Archivist, History Professor, Publisher, Editor, Novelist, Playwright, Meteorologist, Movie Aficionado, Unofficial President of the QC Branch of the Vincent Price Fan Club, less official Cthulhu Cultist, big-time gamer, and bush-league disc golf hack. In his spare time... LOL.
Chase is another regular at Odds and Thomas’ best friend. He is a sasquatch who loves the outdoors and a good hunt. He is incredibly protective of his friends, Diana in particular.
Chase is played by James Palagi. We asked James for a 2 to 3 sentence bio for this website. He put a bit of thought into it and came up with a bio that was humorous and pithy, however, by then he had run out of sentences.
Maggie is Odds’ resident flirtatious witch. The only things she loves more than magic are tequila and her feline familiar, Mouse, which she turns to human form in order to skirt Odds’ strict “No Pets” rule.
Maggie is played by Molly Wilkison whose soccer mom looks belie her peculiar and disturbing nature. She bakes amazing cookies, likes to be on stage and camera as often as possible, and has been described as delightfully inappropriate.
Mouse is played by Nikki Gillette who is new to the acting scene, though she is no stranger to performing. With a background in improv, stand up, singing, and just generally being magical.
Angus is a leprechaun who hails from Scotland, which causes some confusion. His hobbies include drinking scotch, eating haggis, drinking scotch, playing pipes, bare-knuckle boxing against “Irish shitheels”, and drinking scotch. It’s all in a day’s work for the luckiest patron at Odds.
Angus is played by Broc Nelson. Broc wishes to appear approachable and amenable to others. Please respect appearances and keep a healthy distance. Failure to comply will result in minor discomfort, dialogues about meat and beer, and perhaps brief sexual encounters. Broc apologizes for the brief sexual encounters and wishes to remain friends.
Andrew is a lovable ball of sleeze. Prone to telling tall tales of his sexual exploits, this half-dragon fancies himself quite the ladykiller.
Andrew is played by Wayne Lyter, lead singer of the Metal band "Crater" and recently performed his first hour long stand up special "She Sh!t Himself", followed by his 4/20 stand up special, "Your Bud".
Naomi is a banshee with an affinity for pranks. Her favorite prank is to sneak up and scream behind unsuspecting victims. But if she gets drunk and loses control, she’s liable to melt someone’s brain with her scream… so… yeah, not really that good at pranks.
Naomi is played by Chelsea Alexander. She is enjoying her brief 3 a.m. encounters with the Against the Odds cast and crew. She has also enjoyed roles in Favorite Refrain, Low and Peachy, and Local News Now, as well as An Evening With Fiends – yet to be released. When not in front of the camera, Chelsea enjoys reading, drawing, rock climbing, and working toward her Master’s in Social Work. She would like to thank the wonderful people in her community for allowing her to be a part of so many great projects.
Gill works part time at Odds assisting Thomas and Diana behind the bar. He is a merman (he prefers Deep One) from Innsmouth, who finds beauty in darkness and utter futility of life. There has never been a more loveable buzzkill.
Gill is played by Wil Thomas. A Biology student working towards a degree in scientific illustration or evolutionary biology. Aspiring queer erotic sci-if/horror author. Loves rats, marijuana and hanging out in graveyards.rds.
Helen is a clarinet-wielding pied piper who is employed occasionally by Sin. Playing for money and for fun, she keeps buildings and her life clear of vermin.
Helen is played by Rabekah Bognar. She looks at people's insides with sound waves for her day job. She enjoys drawing, painting, playing music, and acting..
Ken is an ex-military comic book store operator with a shady side business. He sees himself as friend and mentor to Bryan.
Ken is played by Ben Rollins. Since returning from Iraq in 2010, Ben Rollins is a student at the University of Iowa. While he wouldn't mind making a living as an actor, he's currently studying to be a history teacher. He stumbled into the "acting thing" about three years ago, and has been enjoying the ride.
Bryan's parents, Gail and Vern, are very proud of their perpetually failing “son-with-potential” and are fully supportive of his decision to give up the idea of being a productive member of society in order to pursue his probably hopeless quest to make comic books. Vern is the programming director of a local public radio station. Gail is a housewife whose sunny disposition masks her seething rage. But it’s okay… it really is.
Gail and Vern are played by actual lovely married couple; Erin and Jeremy Mahr. Both heavily involved in local arts and you can see them often at ComedySportz in The District of Rock Island.
Mama Blues' thugs for hire, Acid, Jazz, and Disco are the only survivors of the infamous Club Dredd fire.
Acid is played by Lilith St Scream. She does fun stuff with fun people...sometimes.
Jazz is played by Cristina Amador-Perez ...when she's not stabbing skinny dudes in alleys... It's actually just best to keep your distance.
Disco is played by Heather Nobiling. She touches guts for a living. She likes to write, photograph, draw, and play pretend on stage whenever she can. She and her coworkers think she is hilarious, and sometimes her sons do, too.
Mama Blues is a confident and no-nonsense businesswoman with her fingers in a number of different eyes.
Mama Blues is Lisa Kahn. Call her Mama Kahn, Mama Blues, production assistant, script girl, catering, casting, associate producer, triple-threat, DJ, Yoli energy drink supplier... Is there anything she can't do?
